I don't think it's too late yet to choose a word for the year. ✨
If a word for an entire year feels too big, try on a word for the quarter or the next season, say til summer. ⛱
Choosing a word as a "guidepost" for how you want to show up or something you want to experience or achieve is actually super helpful. It allows you to filter out the noise that comes at us and make decisions quickly and that are authentic to who you are.
Setting your intentions for the upcoming year by choosing a guiding word will help you have the best year yet and be proud of yourself. It can be one step towards living a fulfilling life and will help you stay motivated on your goals.
In fact just this morning, I glanced over at my word (at the top of my 25 for 2025 list, more on that later) and it jolted me right back to what I wanted to practice in 2025.
For me, that's constraint. I first heard about this "concept" of constraint from life coach Brooke Castillo. (check out her podcast)
The definition of constraint is a limitation or restriction. Similar words are curb, check, curtail or control.
But for me, I tend to get distracted by my love of learning and all the choices and opportunities and ALL THE ALL and ... it's exciting!
And that leads me to overconsume content ... and not create a lot of action or results.
Now, I do love learning for the sake of learning and not everything needs to result in well, a result.
But there is SATISFACTION that feels good when you accomplish something. Diving in deep. Becoming a master (or master-ish). 😅
And so for me, the word constraint reminds me to stay on course, not get distracted and hop from one thing to the next.
Instead, I can capture those ideas and things I want to do for the future (lots of systems I love do that) and not take up precious mind space trying to remember that thing that sounds so intriguing.
